Pat was a Head Waiter with P&O and then later was an Accommodation Supervisor with Princess Cruises.

Bryan Redsell – died on 23 November 2013 aged 81.
During a long career with P&O which began in 1949 in Tilbury, Bryan held various positions in Reservations, Sales and Marketing including periods spent as Shore Excursions Manager and Entertainment's Manager. In the late 1970’s/early 1980’s he was also the Sales and Marketing Manager for BI Educational Cruising.

Jim O’Connor – died on 10 November 2013 aged 73.
Jim joined P&O as an Electrical Officer in 1965 and stayed on with P&O Princess to become a 1st Electro-Technical Officer, retiring in 1997.

Ron Benzmann – died on 10 November 2013 aged 90.
Ron was a Carpenter with the Orient Line and with P&O from the early 1950’s until 1972.

Richard Ellison (known as Fred) – died on 28 October 2013 aged 75.
“Fred” was an Assistant Purser with the Orient Line and P&O between the mid 1950’s and 1962.

Ted Farrow – died 13 October 2013 aged 77.
Ted was a Deck Officer with P&O from 1954 until the mid 1960’s. In 1979 he joined P&O Jet Ferries operating a Boeing Jetfoil between London and Ostend. After this operation closed he moved to Hong Kong to join the new owners operating the Jetfoil between Hong Kong and Macau.
Later he was to be General Secretary of the MN Guild Hong Kong following which he moved into Marine Insurance and consultancy until his retirement.

Nick Lampe died in Sydney on 10 October aged 66 after a long illness.
Nick joined P&O as a Cadet in 1964 and remained at sea with P&O until reaching the rank of 1st Officer when he transferred to OCL. After 18 months serving at sea with OCL, he took a shore position as a Cargo Manager and then in 1976 was offered a senior position with OCL in Sydney where he remained until retirement.

Penny Hartley (Matthews) died on 4 October after a long illness.
Penny initially joined Princess Cruises in 1986 as a Stateroom Stewardess, but then worked her way up through Receptionist to Assistant Purser and to Senior Assistant Purser/Shore Excursions Manager.
After leaving Princess, she worked for Swan Hellenic as a Cruise Manager and later for Hebridean Cruises as a Shore Excursions Manager.

Jack Playfair - died on 15 September aged 84.
Jack was the last to be appointed as “The P&O Agent” in Aden in the late 1960’s. On returning to UK, he joined General Cargo Division and later transferred to OCL/P&OCL as a Trade Manager, where he remained until retirement.

John was an Assistant Purser with P&O Cruises from 1970 to 1974.

Dick Spread died on the 25th May 2013 aged 72.
A Deck Officer with P&O, Dick left in the mid 1980’s with the rank of Chief Officer/Acting Deputy Captain.

Alan Donaldson has died after a long illness.
Alan was a 2nd Laundryman in Canberra from 1971 until 1997 when the ship was withdrawn. After leaving P&O, he remained at sea with the Royal Fleet Auxiliary until his retirement.

Claire Towle (Yates) died on the 1st May 2013 aged 82.
Claire was an Assistant Purser with Orient Line and P&O in the 1950’s and 1960’s.

Alan Moutrey died on the 12th April 2013 aged 77.
Alan was an Assistant Purser with Orient Line in the late 1950’s.

Toby Hinson (Frost) died on the 8th April aged 57.
Toby joined Princess Cruises in the 1970’s and was employed in the on board Casinos. She then joined the Princess Cruises Head Office in Los Angeles where she became the Administration Manager of the Fleet Personnel Department, leaving in 2005.

John Rainbow – died on 31 March aged 68
John was a Cook with P&O in the 1960’s. After leaving P&O, he and his late wife, Lyn (Ramage), ran a Hotel in Scotland.

David Wooldridge died on the 15th March 2013 aged 71.
David was the Senior Fleet Personnel Officer responsible for the appointment of Deck and Radio Officers in P&O Princess but was obliged to take ill-health retirement in 1986.

Malcolm Borland died on the 27th February 2013.
Joined P&O as a Cadet and remained at sea to become Chief Officer. He left to become a Nautical Surveyor after obtaining his Extra Master’s Certificate.

Ken Waite died on the 26th February 2013 aged 78.
Ken was in Sales and Marketing with P&O Cruises before transferring to P&O Ferries in Southampton. He was later with Brittany Ferries until his retirement.

Kirk Long died on the 20th February 2013 aged 44.
At the time of his untimely death, Kirk was the General Manager of Retail Services within the Hotel Operations of Carnival UK.

Peter was a Chief Butcher with P&O Cruises in the 1970’s.

Edmund Vowles died on the 14th February 2013 aged 87
Edmund joined Orient Line in 1946 and held various senior positions in Sales and Marketing in P&O. At the time of his retirement in 1987, he was Managing Director of Swan Hellenic.

Rome Whitamore died on the 10th February 2013.
Rome was an Assistant Purser with P&O in the 1960’s. She was later with P&O Ferries in Dover.

Roland Russell died on the 16th January 2013 aged 87.
Roland was the Administration Manager of the Technical Department of P&O Princess in Southampton. He retired in 1985.

Jimmy O’Byrne died on the 1st January 2013 aged 72.
Jimmy was a Chef de Cuisine with P&O Cruises who left in 1986.

Mike Brett died on the 18th November 2012 aged 78.
Mike joined P&O as an Assistant Purser in 1956 and remained at sea until 1972 by which time he had become Deputy Purser. After spending 5 years with Herz a Rent a Car he then spent several years in Public House management.
